Our academic counselors are ready to assist you in your pursuit of higher education. You can schedule a 30-minute sit-down appointment or you can ask quick questions during a 10-minute drop-in counseling meeting.

Most academic counseling appointments are 30 minutes long, but some appointments are an hour long. Here are some common reasons for appointments:

  • Comprehensive Student Educational Plans (SEP)
  • 1 hour Financial Aid Appeals
  • 1 hour Probation Appointments 
  • 1 hour First Year Nursing Appointments 
  • Personal Issues 
  • Discussion of career goals and options & Transfer Questions 
  • Loss of Priority Enrollment Form 
  • Graduation Check and Petitions 
  • Certificate Petitions 
  • Academic Renewal Eligibility 
  • Recommendation Letters

Drop-In Counseling is available for 10-15 minutes in a face-to-face (on campus) or remote (in the Cranium Cafe Academic Counseling Lobby) setting.

  • Clearing Prerequisites
  • English/ESL and Math Placement Review
  • One or two-semester coursework planning (abbreviated S.E.P.)
  • Petition for Pass /No Pass 
  • Petition to Count the Higher Grade 
  • Consultation on repeating a class a third time 
  • Check Open and Closed Classes
  • Transcript Evaluation Request Form (appointment may be needed) 
  • Questions on whether or not to drop or add a class 
  • Other Quick Questions

Prerequisite Form and Process

  1. Download Prerequisite Clearance Request (pdf)
  2. Fill out the form completely and attach the required documentation stated on the form. 
  3. Email the completed form and the required documentation to counseling@glendale.edu
  4. Once we have received the form, it will be processed in the order received. Please allow at least 7 business days for it to be processed.

We can help you develop your student education plan (S.E.P.), conduct financial aid appeals, discuss career and transfer options, confirm completion of associate or certificate programs, suggest coursework for a specific semester, review placement resultsclear prerequisites, interpret transcript evaluation results, and explore other personal concerns that may interfere with your success. 

As a unit, we also offer various self-help workshops and student development classes, such as Undecided Major WorkshopsProbation Workshops, and New Student Group Counseling workshops. We also sign various forms such as graduation petitions, Pass/No Pass authorizations, unit overload requests, transcript evaluation requests, academic renewal forms, confirmation of goals for financial aid, and many other documents.
