Paul Vera has 16 years experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). He received his Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and his first Master's degree in 1995 from California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). From 1994 to 1999, he taught English as a Foreign Language in Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia and Russia and managed a Business English school in Moscow. After returning to Los Angeles, Paul taught middle school and high school English, and since 2001 he has taught full-time at Glendale Community College (GCC). He developed the first hybrid online Credit ESL writing course at GCC. In addition, he worked on a six-year collaboration with local high schools to improve ESL high school student matriculation to college. Recently, he has completed a second Master's degree in Communication Studies at CSULA. His interests are baseball, movies, video games, history, jazz and graphic novels.
