Shellie has been studying healing and social justice in communities of color for over 10 years. She received her B.A. in Africana Studies from San Diego State University and her M.A. in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University. Shellie's graduate research crossed the intersections of Ethnic Studies, Women’s Studies, and Anthropology in an exploration of the ways in which Black American women are healing the intergenerational trauma of American slavery and gender violence by reclaiming their sacred relationship to land through Black folk medicine. Shellie's current work focuses on exploring frameworks to interrogate racialized trauma through holistic methods, and integrating ancestral wisdom into our collective discourse regarding racial and social equity.
