My name is Mari Yonemoto Lopez. I was born and raised in Japan. I have been teaching Japanese at Glendale Community College since 2007. I also have experience in teaching high school, middle school, and working professionals. Besides the language, I also taught Japanese cooking at Saturday school for 10 years. I enjoy nature, reading books, playing the piano (or I used to...I wish I had more time!), food, coffee & tea, walking my dogs, horseback riding (not good at though), and of course teaching Japanese.

Educational Background:

BA from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies in Anglo-American Studies (Tokyo, Japan) MA from California State University, Long Beach in Asian Studies, with a concentration in Japanese Linguistics/Pedagogy and Japanese History.

I also have certificates in Tea Ceremony (Omote Sen-ke), although they are mostly elementary level.
