Shelby D. Lamar (they/them) is dedicated to making education more inclusive and equitable. They earned their undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma. Then they earned a Master of Arts in Religion from Claremont Graduate University and a Master of Science in Psychology at Arizona State University. In 2019, Shelby started working at the Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program which focused on helping graduate students learn effective, equitable pedagogy and faculty career preparation. They then helped found the Center for Academic & Faculty Excellence (CAFE) at Claremont Graduate University, which assists faculty, staff, alumni, and graduate students in adopting inclusive and equity-driven methodologies in higher education. Shelby currently teaches psychology courses at Glendale Community College and Pasadena City College. Their research delves into integrating artificial intelligence in pedagogy, innovative higher education assessment methods, departmental evaluations, and equitable teaching practices.

“Learning should be a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and challenged to grow. My goal is to create a classroom where curiosity thrives, questions are valued, and every student has the support they need to succeed.” - Shelby Lamar
