Thanks for stopping by! My name is Aisha, pronouns she/her/hers and I'm your GCC Instruction and Distance Education Librarian. Originally from Chicago, I started my college journey at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a my Master's degree in Library and Information Science with a Special Collections and Archives Certification. And yes, you do need a Master's to be a librarian by profession. If you are interested in learning more about LIS, let's chat about it.

My teaching interests include distance education equity, race, ethnic, and gender identity in information spaces and collections, and library workers as social justice accomplices. I am a founding organizer of the People of Color in Library and Information Science (POCinLIS) Summit and moderator of the Librarians of Color-Los Angeles list.

When I am not at GCC, you can find me at the Hollywood Bowl for any concert, in WeHo watching a drag show, or playing tennis across Los Angeles. I am also always happy to give romance novel or a memoir/non-fiction recommendation. See you in the Library!
