Professor McBride is a part-time instructor in political science, with additional experience working in over 25 conflict-affected countries for 23 years. Her contract positions in humanitarian relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict recovery included serving as a Senior Director or Advisor to: overseas Ministerial, Prime Minister and Presidential offices; the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operation at the US Department of State; the United Nations Development Programme; Non-governmental agencies; and headquarter offices in London, New York, and Washington DC. Professor McBride brings a range of skill sets to her teaching, with particular expertise in governance where she supported foreign executives to establish democratic institutions and systems. She has a Master’s degree in International Relations, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a post-graduate certificate in Community College teaching, and was a Visiting Fellow at Stanford University’s Center for Democracy, Development, and Rule of Law.

Teaching Philosophy

During the course of her professional tenure, Ms. McBride conducted formal trainings for thousands of individuals from all walks of life. She came to appreciate the power of a student-centered classroom ~ one that meets the diverse learning styles of the class, facilitates analysis and critical thinking in a welcoming environment, and uses practical techniques to broaden skills applicable, transferable and valuable in both academic and employment settings.
