Before your online drop-in or appointment, please read the Successful Online Counseling Preparation section below to help your session go smoothly. 

Use drop-in for general questions and to talk briefly (10-15 minutes) with an academic counselor or immigration advisor if needed. For longer help, or for issues that require an appointment, please request an appointment (see the Appointments section).

Appointments may be arranged only for the specific issues listed below. For all other issues/questions, please use drop-in counseling.

To request an appointment, please complete the Appointment Request Form or call/visit the office (3rd Floor of Sierra Vista, x6645). An appointment will be scheduled for you no earlier than 48 hours in advance, depending on counselor availability. If you have an urgent need that can not wait at least 48 hours, please use drop-in counseling.

 

Academic Counseling Appointment (30, 45 or 60 minutes):  

  • Student Educational Plans (SEP)/Course Advice/Follow Up Questions   

  • Academic Probation Contract, Dismissal, Renewals/Reinstatements  

  • Concurrent Enrollment Requests (to simultaneously study at another school)

  • Graduation Petitions or Reduced Course Load Form Completions

  • Pre-requisite Clearance Reviews  

  • Academic Renewal/Reinstatement  

  • I-20 Extension or Major Change Requests  

  • Transcript Evaluations  

 

Immigration Advising Appointment (15, 30 or 60 minutes):  

  • General questions not already answered online (15 minute appt)   

  • Financial Hardship: Consultations for Options

  • OPT applications (requires pre-clearance)  

  • Severe Economic Hardship Application (requires pre-clearance)  

  • Reinstatement - F-1 Status (requires pre-clearance)

  • Change of Status to F-1 (Admitted Students only; requires pre-clearance)

BEFORE YOUR ONLINE COUNSELING APPOINTMENT:
  1. Make sure you meet the technical requirements listed.
  2. Use a private computer if possible. If using a public one, clear your data after (e.g. clear download/browsing history, sign-out, etc.).
  3. Please log on 5 minutes before the appointment time. Please have a form of identification ready to show the counselor. (Student ID, Driver’s License, etc.).
    • Counselors may join up to 10 minutes late. Don’t leave the link or you may not be able to rejoin.
  4. Be in a quiet, well-lit place with no distractions. Focus fully on the session.
  5. Dress appropriately, as if attending in person. We can still see you :).
